My woodworking career got started right out of high school in '88 when I was fortunate
enough to land a job at a small shop called the French Tradition. This shop specialized in high quality reproduction pieces
with an emphasis on the Louis XIV and XV periods. There I was taught the proper way to build using solid joinery with a combination
hand tools such as planes and chisels as well as machinery.
After a couple years there I moved on to other shops
such as Broken M where I did a lot of Southwest style work, mostly all Pine and log furniture. I ran a shop called Timbers
of the World for a while where I sold exotic woods as well as did architectural millwork. I really learned a lot about wood
during my time with Timbers. Manibog Enterprises was next, that was all kitchens and solid surface fabricating. From there
I managed a very high end picture framing shop where we did museum quality archival framing. That was a neat job, got to see
a lot of really great artwork go through there.
About this time we were going through the recession of the early/mid
'90's and the work in my field was becoming scarce, so I became a Deputy Sheriff for Los Angeles County in '96. In '04 I was
retired from the department due to an injury, so it was back to woodworking for me, and I'm much happier for it.
During the time I was setting up my shop after my early retirement I worked with my Dad in his yacht service business J&D
Boatworks doing everything from woodwork to electrical to plumbing. I still work with him on the jobs that require woodwork,
something I definitely enjoy doing. But after selling our place in the suburbs, I decided to move our family to
the high desert where we purchased land to build our home and also so we can build a larger and better workshop. Construction is complete on our new 2400
square foot facility in Apple Valley, Ca. In
addition to serving the high desert area of San Bernardino County, this location still allows us to service our clients all
over Southern California as well as our out of state clients. With the addition of space, we can accomodate any of your
woodworking needs. No job is too big or too small.
